Pembroke Pines Firearm Training — Shooting Lessons, Concealed Carry Classes & Personal Defense Instruction
You bought a firearm because Pembroke Pines is home — and home is worth protecting. Maybe it’s secured in your nightstand, tucked in your center console on University Drive, or carried on your hip during the school pickup line. You’ve put in range time. You’ve grouped shots and walked away feeling capable. But somewhere in the back of your mind, a question you haven’t fully answered keeps resurfacing: if something went wrong right now — in a crowded parking lot off Pines Boulevard, in a garage after a late night, or anywhere the unexpected decides to show up — would your training actually hold up under that kind of pressure?
Most firearm owners in Pembroke Pines would pause before answering that honestly. Not because they’re irresponsible. Not because they don’t care deeply about their families’ safety. But because the training most people receive never goes far enough to answer it. Group range classes in Broward County are often overcrowded and paced for the least experienced person in the room — which means experienced shooters stop growing and beginners don’t get the attention they need. YouTube videos and online tutorials can sharpen your knowledge, but they cannot see the grip tension you’ve been building for months, the anticipatory flinch before the trigger breaks, or the stance that works on a static target and falls apart the moment your heart rate spikes. And standing in a lane, shooting at paper that doesn’t move, doesn’t shoot back, and doesn’t require a decision — that’s not defensive training. That’s practice in a vacuum.
Pembroke Pines is a city of families, professionals, and people who show up — for their kids, their neighbors, and their communities. The decision to own a firearm is an extension of that same commitment. But ownership and readiness are not the same thing, and the distance between them is exactly where dangerous gaps live. Suburban Protector was built for the Pembroke Pines gun owner who is done leaving that gap open.
Pembroke Pines Families Own Guns for Protection — But Owning One and Being Ready Are Two Very Different Things.

Pembroke Pines Families Deserve More Than a Range Membership — They Deserve Real Training.
Suburban Protector is led by Mike Kneuer — NRA Certified Pistol Instructor, Tactical Hyve Level 1 Certified, USCCA member, Stop the Bleed instructor, and competitive USPSA shooter with 22 years of concealed carry experience. Mike didn’t walk out of a weekend seminar and hang a shingle. He has pursued the most demanding instructor development programs available anywhere in the country, earned credentials that the vast majority of Florida firearm trainers have never even attempted, and built every single class around one question: when this student drives home, are they genuinely more capable of protecting themselves and the people sitting next to them at the dinner table?
Suburban Protector is a Florida nonprofit — which means no sales agenda, no upsells, and no pressure. Just preparation. Pembroke Pines is one of Broward County’s most established communities — a place where families put down roots, neighborhoods feel familiar, and people can easily mistake comfort for safety. But familiarity isn’t protection. The residents of Pembroke Pines who train with us have stopped waiting for something to happen before taking their firearm seriously. They’ve made the decision to close the gap between owning a gun and actually knowing how to use it when it counts. With over 50 five-star Google reviews from students across Palm Beach and Broward Counties, Suburban Protector has earned a reputation as the firearm training program that Pembroke Pines residents recommend to the people they care about most.
We hold indoor sessions at Palm Beach Shooting Center in Lake Worth — a fully equipped professional range accessible from Pembroke Pines via I-95 or the Turnpike — and outdoor scenario-based training at Smoke & Barrel Gun Club, our private 1.25-acre tactical range near Okeechobee, where we run defensive drills, force-on-force simulations, and movement exercises that no indoor facility in South Florida can come close to replicating. Whether you’ve never loaded a magazine or you’ve been carrying for years without ever stress-testing your skills, every session is designed from the ground up around you — your firearm, your pace, and the real-world situations most relevant to your life in Pembroke Pines.

Pembroke Pines Residents Deserve Firearm Training That Fits Their Life — Not a One-Size-Fits-All Range Class.

Pembroke Pines is one of Broward County’s most established communities — wide residential streets, busy family corridors along Pines Boulevard, and a population that understands that personal safety is not someone else’s responsibility. When Pembroke Pines residents train with Suburban Protector, they get instruction built around their actual life: their firearm, their neighborhood, and the real-world situations a South Florida suburban family is most likely to face.
Here is what we offer:
Private Firearm Lessons — $125 per session
One-on-one shooting instruction for every experience level — from the Pembroke Pines first-timer who just brought home their first handgun to the seasoned shooter who has been doing it wrong for years and knows something is off. A group class cannot watch your grip. A group class cannot catch your trigger anticipation on rep three. Private instruction can — and does. We work through stance, grip, sight alignment, trigger control, accuracy fundamentals, and defensive application with live feedback after every single repetition. Held at Palm Beach Shooting Center in Lake Worth. Firearm rental available for $50.
Florida Concealed Carry Certification (CWFL) — $200–$250
Carrying a firearm through Pembroke Pines — through the Shops at Pembroke Gardens, along University Drive, in a parking garage at night — is a serious responsibility that goes well beyond having a permit. Our Florida concealed carry certification is a live-fire course covering Florida carry laws, safe holster use, drawing from concealment, and the defensive decision-making that has to function under real stress, not just range conditions. Instructor Mike Kneuer provides the NRA-certified instructor sign-off required for your Florida CWFL application.
Protector Level 1 — Pistol Fundamentals — $150
A three-hour beginner to intermediate pistol course held at our private outdoor range in Okeechobee, FL. Limited to 10 students. Built for the Pembroke Pines gun owner who is tired of range trips that feel like nothing is actually improving — who wants a structured foundation that transfers to real-life situations. Covers stance, grip, sight alignment, trigger control, live-fire accuracy drills, and multi-target engagement. If you own a firearm and have never received formal instruction, this is your starting point.
Protector Level 2 — Concealed Carry Concepts — $200
For Pembroke Pines residents who already carry and have started asking themselves whether carrying and being ready are actually the same thing — they are not. This course closes that gap. Drawing from a holster, shooting on the move, vehicle-based defense scenarios, cover and concealment, and high-stress magazine changes under pressure. Pembroke Pines is a community worth protecting. This course is how you do it with confidence. Includes Florida CCW instructor sign-off.
EmpowHER Women-Only Firearm Training — $100
A women-only firearm program designed from the ground up for women in Pembroke Pines and across Broward County who want to learn in a space built entirely around their experience — no intimidation, no condescension, no one mansplaining your grip. No prior experience required. Firearms, eye protection, and ear protection are all provided. Groups of 4 to 8 women. Confidence with a firearm is not something you are born with — it is something you build, and every woman in Pembroke Pines can build it here.
Group Firearm Training — from $100 per person
Custom group firearm training for Pembroke Pines families, HOA communities, workplace teams, friend groups, and organizations of any size. Indoor sessions available at our Palm Beach Shooting Center location or outdoor at Smoke & Barrel Gun Club in Okeechobee. Every session is structured around your group’s goals, experience level, and comfort — not a one-size-fits-all curriculum with your neighborhood’s name dropped into the introduction. Real instruction built for real people.
Stop the Bleed Certification — $75 per person (groups of 4+)
Nationally affiliated bleeding control training for Pembroke Pines residents and Broward County groups. Covers tourniquet application, wound packing, and direct pressure technique. No medical background required. One hour. All materials included. In a community as active and family-dense as Pembroke Pines, knowing how to respond in the first minutes of a medical emergency is not an overreaction — it is exactly the kind of preparedness that saves lives before help arrives.
In a City This Size, Being Unprepared Isn't Just Uncomfortable — It's a Risk Pembroke Pines Families Can't Afford.
There is a moment many Pembroke Pines gun owners know all too well. The firearm has been in the safe for months — maybe longer. You have made it to the range once or twice, put some rounds downrange, and called it good. But the question that quietly follows you home never fully goes away. If something happened in your subdivision, in your garage, pulling out of the Pembroke Lakes Mall parking lot on a Sunday afternoon — would you actually be ready? Not ready in theory. Not ready because you own a gun. Ready in the way that matters when seconds are all you have.
That question deserves more than a generic answer. More than a drill video on your phone or a Saturday morning group class where twenty strangers share one instructor and one lane. The answer you are looking for comes from instruction built around your life — your firearm, your neighborhood, and the people you are trying to bring home safe every night.
That is the training Pembroke Pines residents get when they work with Suburban Protector. Mike trains gun owners who have quietly realized that ownership and preparedness are not the same thing — and who are ready to close that gap for good. The confidence he builds does not crumble under pressure, because his students have already trained through pressure before it ever becomes real.
Pembroke Pines is one of the most densely populated cities in all of Broward County. Busy intersections, crowded shopping centers, packed residential corridors — the environment demands situational awareness and real skill, not just a loaded firearm in a drawer. If you live here and carry, the distance between having a weapon and being truly capable with one is a distance worth covering now.
Mike is one call away.
