Not Sure Where to Start? Download the Free Suburban Protector Gun Owners Guide.

We put together a practical, no-fluff guide for South Florida gun owners that answers the questions we get most often: How should I store my firearm at home? What are Florida’s actual carry laws? What do I need to get a CWFL? What course is right for my skill level? What should I be practicing between training sessions? The guide is free. There are no strings attached. Enter your name and email below and we’ll send it to you immediately. If you decide to train with us afterward, great. If you just needed the information — also great.

    Where We Train...

Palm Beach Shooting Center in Lake Worth. Easiest for students coming from Lake Worth Beach, Boynton Beach, Wellington, West Palm Beach, and Royal Palm Beach.

Shoot Straight in West Palm Beach. The largest indoor range in the area, with a long bay and a full rental counter. Easiest option for students in West Palm Beach, Riviera Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, and Jupiter.

Our private outdoor range in Boynton Beach. Three outdoor bays with no lane assignments and nobody else in your space. This is the closest real outdoor training available to students in Boynton Beach, Delray Beach, Boca Raton, and Lake Worth Beach who would rather not make the drive to Okeechobee.

Gun World of South Florida in Deerfield Beach. Convenient for Boca Raton, Delray Beach, and northern Broward County.

Declaration Defense in Pompano Beach. Closest range for Coral Springs, Margate, Tamarac, and Fort Lauderdale.

Our private outdoor range in Okeechobee. 1.25 acres with training vehicles, steel, barricades, and a wrap-around berm, for training that no indoor lane allows.

Range fees are paid directly to the range. Tell us where you are coming from and we will put you at the closest one.

What Happens After You Reach Out

First, Mike calls or texts you back, usually the same day. He will ask what you are trying to accomplish and what experience you already have.

Second, the two of you settle on the right course and the range that makes sense for where you live.

Third, you get a date and a time. Bring closed toe shoes and a shirt with a high neckline. Everything else is provided or available at the range.

    Why People Train With Us

Suburban Protector Inc. is a Florida registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, funded by training fees and by donations from people who care about this. We are not a gear store. We are not a franchise.

Mike Kneuer is an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor, Tactical Hyve Level 1 certified, a USCCA member, a Stop the Bleed instructor, and a competitive USPSA shooter with 22 years of concealed carry experience. More than 50 five-star Google reviews and hundreds of students trained across Palm Beach County and Broward County.

The private outdoor ranges in Boynton Beach and Okeechobee are something no other public training operation in South Florida offers.

    Commonly Asked Questions

How fast will I hear back?
Most inquiries get an answer the same day, and everything gets a response within 24 hours. Mike reads every message personally. If you need something faster than that, text 561-213-2974 rather than using the form.
Can I book a session online without talking to anyone?
No, and that is on purpose. The training schedule moves constantly around range availability and existing students, so every session gets set by a short conversation instead of a calendar widget. It takes one text message.
What if I do not know which course I need?
That is the most common message we get. Tell us what you own, what experience you have, and what you are trying to accomplish, and Mike will tell you where to start. Most people who are unsure should begin with a single private lesson.
    Do you offer gift certificates?

Yes, for private lessons and for the concealed carry class. They do not expire. Call or text 561-213-2974 to buy one. If you are buying for someone who has never shot before, get the private lesson rather than a group course.

How far in advance should I reach out?

A week is comfortable for most sessions. Weekends and the outdoor ranges book up further out than weekday indoor sessions do. If you need something sooner than that, text rather than emailing and we will tell you honestly what is open.

What do I need to bring?

Closed toe shoes and a shirt with a high neckline, because hot brass finds low collars. Tie long hair back. Bring your driver’s license for certification courses. If you own a firearm and want to train with it, bring it unloaded and cased, and bring your ammunition if you have it. Everything else is provided or available at the range.

Do you train people who are not Florida residents?

Yes. Snowbirds, visitors, and people who just moved down all train with us. Anything covered by permitless carry or a general shooting lesson has no residency requirement. The Florida concealed weapon license itself is available to non-residents through the state, though the application process differs, so tell us your situation and we will point you in the right direction.

Can you train me if I have arthritis or trouble racking the slide?

Yes, and it comes up constantly in South Florida. Grip strength, arthritis, hand tremors, and shoulder limitations all have workarounds. There are racking techniques that use body leverage instead of hand strength, and there are pistols with lighter recoil springs and easier slides. Mention it when you reach out so we plan the session around it.

    Ready When You Are

Most people who reach out tell us the same thing. They meant to do this a year ago.

The gun in the drawer has not gotten easier to run since you bought it. The permit you got does not make you better than the day you got it. And the version of you who needs to have already trained will not get a warning first.

One text starts it. One afternoon changes what you are capable of. Everything after that is just repetition.
