Why a Private Lesson Instead of a Group Class
Group classes move at the pace of whoever is struggling most. That is not a knock on group classes, it is just how they work. You get a share of the instructor and a curriculum that was written before you walked in.
A private lesson is the opposite. The hour goes wherever you need it. If your grip is the problem, we spend the hour on your grip. If you have carried daily for six years and never drawn from concealment with a timer running, we do that instead.

Range confidence and real-world readiness are two different things. One means you can hit paper standing still in a lane. The other means your hands know what to do when your heart rate is up and nothing is where you practiced it.

Palm Beach Shooting Center in Lake Worth. Easiest for students coming from Lake Worth Beach, Boynton Beach, Wellington, West Palm Beach, and Royal Palm Beach.
Shoot Straight in West Palm Beach. The largest indoor range in the area, with a long bay and a full rental counter. Easiest option for students in West Palm Beach, Riviera Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, and Jupiter.
Our Private Outdoor Range in Boynton Beach. Three bays, no lane assignments, and nobody else in your space. The closest real outdoor training for students in Boynton Beach, Delray Beach, Boca Raton, and Lake Worth Beach who would rather not make the drive to Okeechobee.
Gun World of South Florida in Deerfield Beach. Convenient for Boca Raton, Delray Beach, and northern Broward County.
Declaration Defense in Pompano Beach. Closest range for Coral Springs, Margate, Tamarac, and Fort Lauderdale.

What Your First Hour Looks Like
Nothing happens fast. Here is the actual sequence for someone who has never fired a handgun.
The first fifteen minutes are at the table with the firearm unloaded. Safety rules, how the pistol works, how to hold it, how to stand. You handle it, load and unload it, and get familiar with it before a single round goes downrange.
Then we shoot. Close, slow, big target, one round at a time, with feedback after each one. Speed is not the point and neither is a tight group on your first day.
The last stretch is repetition on whatever is giving you trouble. Almost everyone has one specific thing, usually the trigger press or the grip, and fixing it changes everything downstream of it.
You leave knowing what you are doing well, what needs work, and exactly what to practice before next time.

What We Work On
If You Are New
The four safety rules, the parts of the firearm and what each one does, grip, stance, sight alignment, and trigger control. Loading, unloading, and clearing a malfunction. How to store a firearm at home if there are other people in the house. By the end of the hour you will have fired live rounds and you will know what you did right.
If You Already Shoot
Tightening your groups, cleaning up your trigger press, and holding accuracy as the pace picks up. Drawing from concealment, target transitions, reloads, and shooting while moving. Most of this hour goes to diagnosing the one thing costing you the most, because there usually is one.
If You Are Well Past the Basics
Scenario work at the Boynton Beach or Okeechobee ranges. Low light, moving targets, shooting around vehicles and barricades, use of cover, and decision making with your heart rate up and a timer running. This is where you find out which of your fundamentals actually hold and which ones only work standing still in a lane.
Every session is built around what you actually need, not a fixed curriculum. Some students spend the hour on grip and trigger control because that is where the problem is. Others work drawing from concealment, shooting on the move, or fixing a flinch they have carried for years. Tell us where you are and we will start there.
Who You Are Training With
Mike Kneuer has spent twenty-two years carrying a firearm daily and the last several teaching other people how to do it properly. He competes in USPSA, constantly furthers his education by taking other top level instructors courses, and has put thousands of hours in with students ranging from people who had never touched a gun to daily carriers with bad habits they could not see.
A certification is a starting point, not an achievement. It means someone passed a course, and it says nothing about the years since. What Mike brings to your session is a working knowledge of what actually goes wrong for shooters and how to fix it.
He does not lecture and he does not perform. Most of the hour is you shooting and him watching, with short corrections between strings. If what you are doing works, he leaves it alone. If it does not, he tells you plainly and shows you the fix. Nobody gets yelled at and nobody gets talked down to.

Every session opens with a safety briefing before anything is loaded. Muzzle discipline, trigger discipline, and range procedure, covered properly rather than recited. We follow Florida firearm law and the rules of whichever range we are at. The point is not to get through the hour safely. It is to build habits that hold up when nobody is standing next to you.
