Most Florida concealed carry classes are four hours of sitting followed by a handful of rounds downrange. You leave with a certificate and no more skill than you walked in with.
We do it the other way around. The law, the statutes, and the storage rules come to you as a PDF you read at home, on your own time. Then you show up and shoot.
Two private lessons, one on one with an NRA certified instructor. $250 total. You pick the range. At the end you take the written test and get the sign-off you need for your Florida application.
Nobody sits in a folding chair. Nobody watches a video from 2009. The hours you would have spent in a rented classroom get spent on a firing line instead, with somebody standing next to you correcting what your hands are doing.
Most people who book this have owned a firearm for a while and finally decided to do it properly. Some have been carrying permitless since 2023 and want the reciprocity for travel. Either way, you leave with the certificate and with the skill it is supposed to represent.

Florida Went Permitless. Here Is Why the License Still Matters.
Since July 2023 you can carry concealed in Florida without a license, provided you are legally eligible. So the question we get most is whether the permit is still worth getting.
It is, for three reasons.
Reciprocity. Florida’s license is honored in roughly three dozen other states. Permitless carry in Florida means nothing the moment you cross the state line. If you drive to Georgia, the Carolinas, or Tennessee, the license is what keeps you legal.
The waiting period. A Florida concealed weapon license exempts you from the mandatory waiting period when you buy a handgun.
Proof of training. Permitless carry requires no instruction at all. That is exactly the problem. The people carrying without any training are the reason the rest of us get scrutinized.

Read the Law at Home
We send you a PDF covering Florida carry statutes, where you can and cannot carry, safe storage, transportation rules, and use of force. Read it on your couch. This is the part other instructors turn into four hours of sitting in a rented classroom.
Shoot with an Instructor
Two private lessons, one on one. Grip, stance, sight alignment, trigger control, drawing from a holster, and live fire at realistic defensive distances. You pick the range from the six we train at.
Test and Sign Off
You take the written test covering what was in the PDF. Pass it, and you get the instructor certification your Florida application requires.
What the Training Covers
- Florida carry law. Where you can carry, where you cannot, and what changes when you cross a state line.
- Safe storage and transportation. In the house, in the car, and around other people.
- Grip and stance. The two fundamentals that determine whether the rest of it works.
- Sight alignment and trigger control. The largest cause of missed shots, addressed directly.
- Drawing from a holster. Safely, repeatedly, until it stops requiring thought.
- Live fire at defensive distances. Not bullseye shooting at 25 yards. The distances that actually apply.
- Use of force and decision making. When carrying is appropriate and when the answer is to walk away.
- The written test. Covering Florida statutes and responsible carry.
Pick the Range Closest to You
Your certification does not happen at a fixed facility on a fixed date. You tell us where you are coming from and we put you at whichever range makes the drive shortest.
Palm Beach Shooting Center, Lake Worth. Easiest for students in Palm Beach County coming from Lake Worth Beach, Boynton Beach, Wellington, West Palm Beach, and Royal Palm Beach.
Shoot Straight, West Palm Beach. The largest indoor range in the area, with a long bay and a full rental counter. Best option for West Palm Beach, Riviera Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, and Jupiter in Palm Beach County.
Gun World of South Florida, Deerfield Beach. Convenient for Boca Raton, Delray Beach, and northern Broward County.
Declaration Defense, Pompano Beach. Closest range for Coral Springs, Margate, Tamarac, and Fort Lauderdale in Broward County.
Our private outdoor range, Boynton Beach. Three bays, no lane assignments, nobody else in your space. The closest real outdoor option for Boynton Beach, Delray Beach, Boca Raton, and Lake Worth Beach in Palm Beach County.
Our private outdoor range, Okeechobee. 1.25 acres with training vehicles, steel, barricades, and a wrap-around berm. Worth the drive if you want to certify somewhere that lets you actually move.
Range fees are paid directly to the range. Tell us where you are coming from and we will put you at the closest one.
What Happens After Your Sign-Off
The certificate is one piece of the application. Here is the rest, so nothing surprises you.
Fingerprints. You get these done yourself, either at your county sheriff’s office or at a designated fingerprint vendor. Call ahead, since hours vary and some locations take walk-ins while others do not.
The application. You submit to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, either online or by mail, along with your certificate, prints, photo, and fee.
The wait. Processing times move around. Check the current estimate when you apply rather than relying on what a friend told you last year.
We will walk you through the whole sequence at your second lesson. Nobody gets handed a certificate and left to figure out the rest alone.
Who Books This
Nobody wakes up and decides to get certified for no reason. There is almost always a specific thing that pushed it. Here is who tends to book.
- First-time gun owners. You bought a handgun recently, it has been sitting in a safe or a nightstand, and you would rather learn to run it properly than figure it out alone at a rented lane.
- Permitless carriers who travel. You have been carrying since Florida dropped the requirement in 2023, and then you planned a drive to Georgia or the Carolinas and realized permitless stops at the state line.
- Experienced shooters who never certified. You have been shooting for years and you are good at it, but nobody ever walked you through carry law, storage rules, or use of force in a structured way.
- Couples certifying together. One of you wanted this and the other agreed to come along. That works fine, and people who train together tend to keep practicing together.
- Anyone who took a group class years ago. Four hours in a folding chair, ten rounds downrange, a certificate, and no memory of any of it. You want the version where you actually learn something.
- People who have been putting it off. This is most of them. The gun has been in the house for two years and the class has been on the list for one.
Whichever one you are, the training is the same. Two lessons, one on one, at the range closest to you, with the law handled before you show up.

Mike Kneuer has spent twenty-two years carrying a firearm daily and the last several teaching other people how to do it properly. He competes in USPSA, keeps taking courses from instructors better than he is, and has put thousands of hours in with students from first-timers to daily carriers with habits they could not see.

Common Questions About Florida Concealed Carry Certification
Not to carry concealed inside Florida, as long as you are legally eligible. You do need one if you want your carry recognized in other states, and the license also exempts you from the waiting period when buying a handgun. Most people who get it are getting it for travel.
$250 for two private lessons with an NRA certified instructor, including the written test and the sign-off. That is the training cost. The state application fee and fingerprinting are separate and paid directly to the state and to whoever takes your prints.
Two sessions, usually scheduled a week or so apart, though we can do them closer together if you are in a hurry. Reading the PDF takes an evening.
No. That is the entire point of how we run this. The law portion is a PDF you read at home. Your time with an instructor is spent shooting.
No. If you do not own one, we provide one for your lessons. If you do own one, bring it, since certifying with the gun you will actually carry makes more sense.
