Firearm Training in Coral Springs, FL — Personalized Gun Lessons, CCW Classes & Defensive Shooting Instruction That Actually Prepares You
You bought a firearm because you understand what it means to protect the people you love. In a community like Coral Springs — where youth sports schedules, school pickup lines, and neighborhood walks define daily life — the decision to own a firearm wasn’t casual. It came from a place of deep responsibility. Maybe it’s secured in your home. Maybe it’s on your person when you leave the house. You’ve put in range time. You’ve taken it seriously. But somewhere in the back of your mind, a question quietly lives that no amount of range visits has ever fully answered: if something happened right now, in a parking lot off Sample Road or outside a Coral Springs shopping center after dark, would your training actually hold up when it counts?
Most Coral Springs firearm owners would pause before answering that honestly. Not because they’re negligent — but because the resources available to them were never designed to answer that question in the first place. The packed group classes at local Broward County ranges move at the slowest student’s pace and treat every shooter as interchangeable. YouTube instructors can’t see the tension in your shoulders, the anticipatory flinch you’ve unknowingly built into your trigger pull, or the grip habit you’ve been reinforcing for two years without realizing it’s working against you. And standing in a static lane, shooting at a paper target under fluorescent lights, does nothing — nothing — to replicate the moment your heart rate doubles, your hands lose their steadiness, and every hour of practice you’ve logged either shows up or it doesn’t.
Coral Springs is a community that has lived closer to tragedy than most. The shadow of Parkland never fully left this corner of Broward County, and for many residents it didn’t create fear — it created resolve. A quiet, firm decision to be the kind of person who is genuinely prepared, not just armed. That distinction matters more than most people realize. The space between owning a firearm and being truly trained to deploy it under real pressure is the most consequential gap in any gun owner’s life. Suburban Protector was built specifically to close it — one Coral Springs resident at a time.
Coral Springs Residents Know Better Than Most That Owning a Firearm and Being Ready to Use One Are Two Very Different Things.

Coral Springs Knows What's at Stake. Your Firearm Training Should Too.
Suburban Protector is led by Mike Kneuer — NRA Certified Pistol Instructor, Tactical Hyve Level 1 Certified, USCCA member, Stop the Bleed instructor, and competitive USPSA shooter with 22 years of concealed carry experience. Mike didn’t collect credentials to fill a bio page. He pursued the most demanding instructor development programs available anywhere in the country, earned certifications that the vast majority of Florida firearm trainers have never even attempted, and built every single course around one non-negotiable standard: when this student drives home from the range, are they genuinely more capable of protecting themselves and the people depending on them?
Suburban Protector is a Florida nonprofit — which means no sales quotas, no upsells, and no agenda beyond your actual readiness. Coral Springs is a community that understands this at a deeper level than most. This city sits in the shadow of a tragedy that reshaped how an entire generation of South Florida families thinks about safety, preparedness, and personal responsibility. The residents who come to us aren’t looking for a hobby — they’re looking for answers. They’ve decided that owning a firearm is not enough, that proximity to danger doesn’t wait for perfect conditions, and that real preparation requires real instruction from someone who has spent decades thinking about nothing else. With more than 50 five-star Google reviews from students across Palm Beach and Broward Counties, Suburban Protector has become the training program Coral Springs residents turn to when they’re ready to close the gap between having a firearm and truly knowing what to do with it.
We train at Palm Beach Shooting Center in Lake Worth — a professional indoor facility accessible from Coral Springs via the Turnpike or I-95 in under an hour — and at Smoke & Barrel Gun Club, our private 1.25-acre outdoor tactical range near Okeechobee, where we conduct scenario-based defensive training that no indoor Broward County facility can come close to replicating. Whether you’re a first-time gun owner in a Coral Springs neighborhood or a seasoned carrier who wants to move from passive confidence to active preparedness, every session is built entirely around you — your firearm, your environment, and the specific situations you’re most likely to face.

Coral Springs Residents Don't Just Want to Own a Firearm. They Want to Know They're Ready If It Ever Matters.

Coral Springs is a community that has always taken safety personally. From its carefully planned neighborhoods to its deeply engaged residents, this is a city that understands the difference between feeling safe and being prepared. When Coral Springs residents train with Suburban Protector, they get instruction built around their actual life — their firearm, their family, and the real-world situations most relevant to living in northwest Broward County.
Here is what we offer:
Private Firearm Lessons — $125 per session
One-on-one shooting lessons for every skill level — from the Coral Springs resident picking up a firearm for the first time to the experienced shooter who has been practicing the same bad habits for years without realizing it. Private instruction is the only format where every correction, every repetition, and every drill is built entirely around you. We work through stance, grip, sight alignment, trigger control, accuracy fundamentals, and defensive application with live feedback after every single round. No group dynamic. No waiting. No one-size-fits-all curriculum. Available at Palm Beach Shooting Center in Lake Worth. Firearm rental available for $50.
Florida Concealed Carry Certification (CWFL) — $200–$250
Coral Springs residents who carry — or who are preparing to carry — deserve more than a certificate. They deserve to know exactly what to do when a situation stops being theoretical. Our Florida concealed carry certification is live-fire focused and built around the decisions that matter: Florida carry law, safe holster use, drawing from concealment, and the kind of pressure-tested defensive decision-making that holds up when your heart rate is elevated and the stakes are real. Instructor Mike Kneuer provides the NRA-certified instructor sign-off required for your Florida CWFL application.
Protector Level 1 — Pistol Fundamentals — $150
A three-hour beginner-to-intermediate pistol course held at our private outdoor range in Okeechobee, FL. Limited to 10 students. Built for the Coral Springs gun owner who wants more than a range visit — who wants a genuine foundation that transfers to real life outside the lane. Covers stance, grip, sight alignment, trigger control, live-fire accuracy drills, and multi-target engagement. If you own a firearm and have never received formal instruction, this is the course that changes that. Come as you are. Leave with a foundation that actually holds.
Protector Level 2 — Concealed Carry Concepts — $200
For Coral Springs residents who already carry and have started asking themselves whether they are truly ready or simply licensed. This course closes that gap. Drawing from a holster, shooting on the move, vehicle-based defense scenarios, cover and concealment, and high-stress drills with magazine changes under pressure — all in a controlled, structured environment with a certified instructor watching every movement. There is a meaningful difference between holding a permit and being genuinely prepared. This is the course that makes that difference concrete. Includes Florida CCW instructor sign-off.
EmpowHER Women-Only Firearm Training — $100
A women-only firearm training program for women in Coral Springs and across Broward County who want to learn in an environment built entirely around their experience — not adapted from someone else’s. No prior experience required. No judgment, no intimidation, no talking down. Firearms, eye protection, and ear protection are all provided. Groups of 4 to 8 women. Coral Springs has always been a community where women lead, advocate, and show up for each other. This course is an extension of that — because confidence with a firearm is not a personality type. It is a skill, and every woman in Coral Springs can build it.
Group Firearm Training — from $100 per person
Custom group firearm training for Coral Springs families, neighborhood groups, HOA communities, corporate teams, and organizations of every kind. Indoor sessions at Palm Beach Shooting Center or outdoor at Smoke & Barrel Gun Club in Okeechobee. Every session is structured around your group’s specific goals, experience level, and comfort — not a recycled agenda with your city name dropped into the opening slide. Coral Springs residents train together because they look out for each other. We build the curriculum around that.
Stop the Bleed Certification — $75 per person (groups of 4+)
Nationally affiliated bleeding control training available to Coral Springs residents and Broward County groups. Covers tourniquet application, wound packing, and direct pressure technique. No medical background required. One hour. All materials included. For a community as close to Parkland as Coral Springs is, the conversation around emergency preparedness has never been abstract. This course is one practical, powerful hour that every responsible gun owner — and every prepared adult — in Coral Springs should have on their resume.
In Coral Springs, Knowing You Own a Firearm Isn't Enough — Knowing How to Use It Is Everything.
There is a moment many Coral Springs gun owners recognize. You have had your firearm for a while. Maybe you bought it after Parkland. Maybe you have had it for years. You have taken it to the range once or twice, maybe more. But somewhere in the back of your mind, the question never fully goes away — if something actually happened in your neighborhood, in your driveway, picking up your kids from school on Wiles Road — would you be ready? Not just legally. Not just physically. Actually ready, under pressure, when it counts.
That question deserves more than a range membership. It deserves more than a crowded Saturday morning class where the instructor is managing fifteen people and barely registers your name. A real answer comes from focused, personalized instruction built around how you live, where you live, and what you are fighting to protect.
That is exactly what Coral Springs residents get when they train with Suburban Protector. Mike works with local gun owners who are done telling themselves that owning a firearm is enough — and ready to replace that false confidence with something real, tested, and earned. The kind of preparedness that holds when the adrenaline spikes and your hands are shaking — because you have already trained through exactly that moment.
Coral Springs is one of the most family-committed communities in all of Broward County. Planned neighborhoods. Strong schools. A population that takes safety seriously and expects the same from every professional they trust. If you own a firearm and live here, you already understand that responsibility. Suburban Protector exists to make sure your training matches it.
Mike is one call away.
