Firearm Training in Jensen Beach, FL — Gun Lessons, CCW Classes & Shooting Instruction
You bought a firearm because the people in your life are worth protecting. Maybe it sits on your nightstand, rides with you across the Jensen Beach Causeway, or stays close when you are out on the water or walking the trails at Indian RiverSide Park after sunset. You have put rounds through it. You have felt the weight of it in your hands and told yourself that counts for something. But somewhere in the back of your mind, a question has never fully gone away — if something happened right now, in the parking lot of a Jensen Beach shopping plaza or on a quiet street off NE Jensen Beach Boulevard, would you actually know what to do?
Most firearm owners along the Treasure Coast would honestly admit the answer is no. Not because they are reckless. Not because they do not care. But because no one ever walked them through what real defensive readiness actually demands. The packed group classes at regional ranges move at the slowest person’s pace and rarely give any single shooter the attention they need to actually improve. YouTube tutorials cannot see the tension creeping into your trigger hand, the slight cant in your wrist you have been repeating for two years, or the breath-hold habit that will surface at the worst possible moment. And punching holes in a paper silhouette under fluorescent lights does nothing to prepare you for the surge of adrenaline, the narrowing of your vision, and the split-second decision that arrives without warning and waits for no one.
Jensen Beach is a close-knit waterfront community where people put down roots, raise their kids, and make deliberate choices about how they protect what matters most. Choosing to own a firearm is one of those choices. But ownership alone is not preparation. The distance between having a gun and being truly ready to use one under pressure — calmly, legally, and effectively — is wider than most people realize. That gap is exactly what Suburban Protector was built to close.
Most Jensen Beach Gun Owners Know How to Shoot — But Not How to Respond When It Matters

Jensen Beach's Go-To Firearm Instructor — Real-World Training for Coastal Florida Living
Suburban Protector is led by Mike Kneuer — NRA Certified Pistol Instructor, Tactical Hyve Level 1 Certified, USCCA member, Stop the Bleed instructor, and competitive USPSA shooter with 22 years of concealed carry experience. Mike didn’t walk out of a weekend seminar and hang up a shingle. He has pursued the most demanding instructor development programs in the country, earned credentials that most Florida firearm trainers have never gone after, and built every class around a single question: when this student leaves the range, are they genuinely more capable of defending themselves and the people who depend on them?
Suburban Protector is a Florida nonprofit — which means we answer to your readiness, not a revenue target. Jensen Beach sits in a unique position: a close-knit, waterfront community where people know their neighbors, value their independence, and understand that personal safety is a choice you make before something happens — not after. We built our program for residents who carry with intention, who want training grounded in real-world scenarios, and who refuse to let a firearm sit in a drawer unused and untrained. With more than 50 five-star Google reviews from students across the Treasure Coast and Palm Beach County, Suburban Protector has become the firearm training academy that Jensen Beach residents turn to when they’re ready to take that responsibility seriously.
We train at Palm Beach Shooting Center in Lake Worth — a professional indoor range within comfortable driving distance of Jensen Beach — and at Smoke & Barrel Gun Club, our private 1.25-acre outdoor tactical range near Okeechobee, where we run scenario-based defensive training that no indoor facility in South Florida can match. Whether you’re picking up a firearm for the first time or you’ve been carrying for years and know there’s a gap between having a gun and being prepared to use it under pressure, every session is built around you — your pace, your goals, your life.

Firearm Training Built for Jensen Beach Gun Owners — From First Shot to Concealed Carry

Jensen Beach is a tight-knit coastal community where the waterfront lifestyle meets genuine awareness of personal safety. The people here are not paranoid — they are practical. When Jensen Beach residents train with Suburban Protector, they get instruction built around their actual life: their firearm, their environment, and the real-world situations most likely to unfold on Treasure Coast streets, in parking lots, or at home after dark.
Here is what we offer:
Private Firearm Lessons — $125 per session
One-on-one shooting lessons for every skill level, from first-time gun owners in Jensen Beach who just purchased their first firearm to seasoned shooters who have plateaued and cannot pinpoint why. A crowded group class moves at the pace of the slowest student. Private instruction moves at yours. We break down stance, grip, sight alignment, trigger control, accuracy fundamentals, and defensive application — with live feedback after every single repetition, not at the end of the hour. Available at Palm Beach Shooting Center in Lake Worth, a straightforward drive from Jensen Beach on I-95. Firearm rental available for $50.
Florida Concealed Carry Certification (CWFL) — $200–$250
Jensen Beach residents carry along Indian River Drive, through crowded waterfront events, and on weekend errands where the parking lots are full and situational awareness matters. A permit alone does not make you prepared. Our Florida concealed carry class is live-fire focused and built around the decisions that actually matter under stress — Florida carry laws, safe holster use, drawing from concealment, and the kind of judgment that holds up when the moment counts. Mike provides the NRA-certified instructor sign-off required for your Florida CWFL application.
Protector Level 1 — Pistol Fundamentals — $150
A three-hour beginner to intermediate pistol course at our private outdoor range in Okeechobee, FL — less than 90 minutes from Jensen Beach. Limited to 10 students. Built for the gun owner who wants more than a casual range trip — who wants a foundation that actually transfers to real life. Covers stance, grip, sight alignment, trigger control, live-fire accuracy drills, and multi-target engagement. If you own a firearm in Jensen Beach and have never had formal instruction, this is the course that changes that.
Protector Level 2 — Concealed Carry Concepts — $200
For Jensen Beach residents who already carry and know there is a gap between having a permit and being genuinely ready to use it. This course closes that gap. Drawing from a holster, shooting on the move, vehicle-based defense scenarios, cover and concealment, and high-stress magazine changes under pressure. Carrying a firearm along the Treasure Coast means accepting a level of responsibility — this course is how you honor it. Includes Florida CCW instructor sign-off.
EmpowHER Women-Only Firearm Training — $100
A women-only shooting program designed from the ground up for women in Jensen Beach and across the Treasure Coast who want to learn firearms without the noise, the ego, or the assumptions that can make a mixed environment feel unwelcoming. No experience required. Firearms, eye protection, and ear protection are all provided. Groups of 4 to 8 women. Confidence with a firearm is not something you are born with — it is something you build, and every woman in Jensen Beach can build it here.
Group Firearm Training — from $100 per person
Custom group gun training for Jensen Beach families, friend groups, waterfront community associations, HOA neighborhoods, and organizations across Martin County. Indoor at our Pompano Beach location or outdoor at Smoke & Barrel in Okeechobee. No recycled curriculum, no generic safety lecture — every session is structured around your group’s goals, your experience level, and what you actually want to walk away knowing.
Stop the Bleed Certification — $75 per person (groups of 4+)
Nationally affiliated bleeding control training for Jensen Beach residents and Martin County groups. Covers tourniquet application, wound packing, and direct pressure technique. No medical experience required. One hour. All materials included. If you own a firearm and do not know how to control a traumatic bleed, you have prepared for one emergency and left the door open on another. This course closes it.
Jensen Beach Gun Owners Don't Just Leave the Range Feeling Good — They Leave Ready.
There is a moment many Jensen Beach gun owners recognize. You have had your firearm for a while. Maybe you have taken it out to the range once or twice, felt reasonably comfortable, and told yourself that was probably enough. But out on Hutchinson Island, or pulling into your driveway off Indian River Drive, or sitting at the light on NE Jensen Beach Boulevard — the quiet thought surfaces. If something actually happened right here, right now, would you be ready?
Not legally ready. Not “I own a gun” ready. Actually, under-pressure, protecting-what-matters ready.
That question does not go away on its own. And it should not be answered by an algorithm, a crowded classroom, or a one-size-fits-all curriculum. It deserves focused, one-on-one instruction built around your life, your environment, and the specific people you are trying to keep safe.
That is what Jensen Beach residents get when they train with Suburban Protector. Mike works with local gun owners who are tired of carrying quiet uncertainty and ready to trade it for something real — the kind of skill that holds up when your heart is pounding and the situation is not going according to plan. Because you have already trained through it.
Jensen Beach sits at a unique crossroads. It is a waterfront community with a small-town feel, but it borders one of the most trafficked corridors on the Treasure Coast. Martin County is growing fast, and the situations that demand awareness and decisive action are no longer abstract. If you own a firearm and live here, the distance between having one and truly knowing how to use it is worth closing — sooner rather than later.
Mike is one call away.
