Firearm Training in Poinciana, FL — Gun Lessons, CCW Classes & Shooting Instruction
You bought a firearm because you take your family seriously. In a community as large as Poinciana — spread across two counties, built neighborhood by neighborhood, growing faster than most Florida cities people have actually heard of — that decision means something. Maybe it’s in your nightstand. Maybe it’s holstered when you leave for your shift before sunrise. Maybe it’s been in the same drawer since you bought it, waiting for a moment you hope never comes.
You’ve probably been to a range. You’ve sent rounds downrange and felt what that confidence feels like. But if you slow down and ask yourself the honest question — if something happened right now, in the Poinciana Parkway Publix parking lot, walking to your car after dark on Marigold Avenue, or in your own driveway — would you actually respond the way you need to? Not just react. Respond. With clarity. With control. Under pressure.
Most Poinciana gun owners would quietly say no. Not because they don’t care. Not because they take their family’s safety lightly. But because nobody ever showed them what genuinely ready looks like when everything is moving fast and your hands are shaking and the paper target at the range has been replaced by a situation that doesn’t wait for you to find your footing. Group classes pack too many students into a single lane and move at the speed of the least experienced person in the room. Online videos can’t see your grip, can’t catch the flinch you’ve built into every shot, and can’t replicate the weight of a real defensive decision made in a real moment. Static range drills build a certain kind of familiarity — but familiarity and preparedness are not the same thing, and in a community the size of Poinciana, that difference matters.
Poinciana is one of Florida’s largest communities. Its residents work hard, raise families across Osceola and Polk counties, and take personal responsibility seriously. That same responsibility that brought you to the point of owning a firearm doesn’t stop at the point of purchase. The space between having a gun and knowing how to use it under pressure is the most dangerous place a gun owner can occupy. Closing that gap is what Suburban Protector was built to do.
Most Poinciana Gun Owners Have a Firearm at Home — But No Plan for What Happens Next.

Poinciana's Go-To Firearm Instructor — Real Training Built for One of Florida's Largest Communities
Suburban Protector is led by Mike Kneuer — NRA Certified Pistol Instructor, Tactical Hyve Level 1 Certified, USCCA member, Stop the Bleed instructor, and competitive USPSA shooter with 22 years of concealed carry experience. Mike didn’t walk out of a weekend seminar with a laminated card and call it expertise. He has pursued the most demanding instructor development programs in the country, earned credentials that most Florida firearm trainers have never attempted, and built every course around a single standard: when this student leaves the range, are they genuinely more capable of protecting the people they love?
Suburban Protector is a Florida nonprofit — which means the only agenda driving every session is your readiness. Poinciana is a community that doesn’t get the attention it deserves from service providers who focus on incorporated cities with more name recognition. We see it differently. Poinciana’s size, its layout, its mix of working families, shift workers, and residents who’ve relocated from across the country — all of it shapes what real firearm training here needs to look like. With more than 50 five-star Google reviews from students across Central and South Florida, Suburban Protector has become the instructor that Poinciana residents turn to when they’re done treating their firearm as a backup plan and ready to treat it as a trained skill.
We train at two locations. For scenario-based and outdoor live-fire training, we use Smoke & Barrel Gun Club — a private 1.25-acre tactical range near Okeechobee where we run defensive drills, concealment draws, and high-stress scenarios that no indoor facility in Florida can replicate. For indoor fundamentals sessions, we utilize a licensed shooting facility accessible from Osceola County. Whether you’ve never had formal instruction or you’ve been carrying for years and know there are gaps you haven’t closed, every session is built entirely around you.

Firearm Training Courses for Poinciana Residents — Scheduled Around Your Life, Not the Other Way Around

Poinciana stretches across two counties and dozens of neighborhoods — and the residents who live here navigate real daily life in a community that law enforcement coverage and emergency response times don’t always reflect. When Poinciana residents train with Suburban Protector, they get instruction built around their actual circumstances: their firearm, their schedule, and the real situations they’re most likely to face.
Here is what we offer:
Private Firearm Lessons — $125 per session
One-on-one shooting instruction for every experience level — from Poinciana residents who have never had formal training to experienced carriers who’ve hit a ceiling and can’t figure out why. Private lessons are the most direct path to real improvement because a group class with twelve students cannot watch your trigger finger. We work through stance, grip, sight alignment, trigger control, accuracy under realistic conditions, and defensive application — with live feedback after every repetition. Firearm rental available.
Florida Concealed Carry Certification (CWFL) — $200–$250
Poinciana residents who carry — or plan to — need more than a permit. They need to be prepared for the moment the permit becomes relevant. Our Florida concealed carry certification is live-fire focused and covers Florida carry laws, safe holster technique, drawing from concealment, and the defensive decision-making framework that holds up when adrenaline takes over. Mike provides the NRA-certified instructor sign-off required for your Florida CWFL application.
Protector Level 1 — Pistol Fundamentals — $150
A three-hour beginner to intermediate course at our private outdoor range, limited to 10 students. Built for the Poinciana gun owner who wants more than a range trip — who wants a real foundation that transfers to real life. Covers stance, grip, sight alignment, trigger control, live-fire accuracy drills, and multi-target engagement. If you own a firearm and have never had formal instruction, this is where you start.
Protector Level 2 — Concealed Carry Concepts — $200
Advanced concealed carry training for Poinciana residents who already carry and want to close the gap between having a permit and being genuinely prepared. Drawing from a holster, shooting on the move, vehicle defense scenarios, cover and concealment, and high-stress drills with magazine changes under pressure. Includes Florida CCW instructor sign-off.
EmpowHER Women-Only Firearm Training — $100
A women-only course for women in Poinciana who want to learn firearms in an environment built entirely for them — no judgment, no intimidation, no condescension. No prior experience required. Firearms, eye protection, and ear protection are all provided. Groups of 4 to 8 women. Confidence with a firearm is not a personality type — it is a skill, and every woman in Poinciana can build it.
Group Firearm Training — from $100 per person
Custom group training for Poinciana families, HOA communities, shift-worker groups, church organizations, and teams of all kinds. Indoor or outdoor depending on your group’s goals. Every session is built around your group’s actual experience level and objectives — not a recycled script with your neighborhood’s name dropped into the intro.
Stop the Bleed Certification — $75 per person (groups of 4+)
Nationally affiliated bleeding control training for Poinciana residents and Osceola and Polk County groups. Covers tourniquet application, wound packing, and direct pressure technique. No medical background required. One hour. All materials included. If you carry a firearm in Poinciana and don’t know how to stop a bleed, that’s a gap worth closing — and this course closes it.
Poinciana Gun Owners Don't Just Own a Firearm — They Leave Knowing Exactly How to Use It.
There’s a moment a lot of Poinciana gun owners recognize. You’ve had your firearm for a while. You’ve taken it to the range. But somewhere in the back of your mind the question sits quietly: if something actually happened — in your neighborhood, in your driveway off Pleasant Hill Road, at a stoplight on Cypress Parkway — would you be ready? Not just armed. Actually ready.
That question deserves a real answer. Not a YouTube video. Not a packed group class where the instructor learns your name on the way out the door. A real answer comes from focused, personalized instruction built around how you live, where you live in Poinciana, and what you’re actually trying to protect.
Poinciana is one of the largest communities in Florida — and it’s still growing. More families. More neighborhoods. More situations where skill and awareness aren’t optional. If you own a firearm and live here, the gap between having one and being trained with one is a gap worth closing.
