Master the Fundamentals. Build the Foundation That Everything Else Depends On.
Protector Level 1 — Pistol Fundamentals Course at Our Private Outdoor Range, Okeechobee FL
Most gun owners in Palm Beach County and Broward County picked up their shooting habits from whoever handed them their first firearm — a friend, a family member, or an afternoon at an indoor range with no instruction. The problem is that bad fundamentals don’t just limit your accuracy. They become deeply ingrained habits that get worse under pressure, harder to break over time, and potentially dangerous in a real defensive situation. If you’ve ever felt inconsistent at the range, struggled to understand why your shots aren’t landing where they should, or simply want to start the right way — Protector Level 1 is where it begins.
Protector Level 1 is Suburban Protector’s foundational pistol course — a three-hour, small-group training session at our private outdoor range in Okeechobee, Florida, designed to give beginners and intermediate shooters the correct mechanical foundation for everything that follows. With a maximum of 10 students per session, our NRA-certified instructor gives every student the individual attention their fundamentals require. You won’t just go through the motions — you’ll understand why each principle matters and exactly what to practice when you leave.
What You’ll Learn in Protector Level 1
- Principles of stance — how your body position affects every shot you fire.
- Grip — the single most important fundamental most shooters get wrong.
- Vision and sight alignment — understanding your sights and how to use them under pressure.
- Trigger control — how to eliminate the most common cause of missed shots.
- Multiple target engagement — transitioning between targets quickly and accurately.
- Range safety and firearm handling protocols.
- A personalized debrief on what to take home and practice before your next session.
Who is Protector Level 1 For?
Protector Level 1 is built for two types of students. The first is the complete beginner — someone in Palm Beach County or Broward County who has just purchased their first firearm and wants to start with the right foundation rather than pick up bad habits from YouTube. The second is the intermediate shooter who has been shooting for a while but knows something is off — their groups aren’t consistent, they can’t figure out why, and they’re ready to have a trained eye diagnose and correct the problem. Both will leave this course as fundamentally better shooters.

Spend 3 Hours Getting It Right
Show up ready to work. The session is hands-on from the first minute — principles explained, immediately applied, and corrected in real time by your NRA-certified instructor. This is not a lecture. It is a workshop.
Leave With a Clear Path Forward
Every Protector Level 1 student leaves with a personalized debrief — what improved, what still needs work, and a specific practice plan to take to any range. This course is your foundation. Protector Level 2 is your next step.
Protector Level 1 graduates consistently describe the same experience: they walk onto the range uncertain about what they’re doing wrong and walk off understanding exactly what right feels like. Consistent, accurate shots. A grip that doesn’t fatigue. A trigger press that stops pulling shots. These aren’t small improvements — they’re the difference between a firearm that gives you confidence and one that gives you false confidence. Every advanced skill you will ever build — from drawing from concealment to shooting under stress — starts here.
