Royal Palm Beach Firearm Training — CCW Classes, Pistol Lessons & Family Shooting Instruction
You bought a firearm because going home to your family at the end of every day is non-negotiable. Maybe it stays on your nightstand, rides in your center console on the commute down Southern Boulevard, or sits on your hip from the time you leave the house until the time you lock the door behind you. You have taken it to the range. You have put rounds on target and walked away feeling like you are doing the right thing.
But there is a question that has never fully settled — one that surfaces when you are pulling into a dark parking lot off Okeechobee Boulevard, or walking your kids to the car after a late night out in the village. If something happened right now, in that moment, with no warning and no script — would your training actually show up?
Most firearm owners in Royal Palm Beach would tell you the truth if you asked them directly: they are not sure. And it is not because they are reckless. It is not because they do not care about the people riding in that car with them. It is because Royal Palm Beach is a community full of people who did what they were supposed to do — they bought a quality firearm, they got their carry permit, they took it to the range when life allowed. What no one told them is that none of that builds the reflexes, the decision-making, or the stress-tested muscle memory that a real defensive situation demands.
Royal Palm Beach is a community where people put in the work. They build careers, raise kids, coach little league, and take care of their neighbors. That same work ethic — that refusal to cut corners on anything that matters — belongs in how you approach firearm readiness. Owning a gun is a decision. Being trained to use it under pressure is a discipline. The distance between those two things is exactly where Suburban Protector lives.
Most Royal Palm Beach Gun Owners Are Training for the Range — Not for the Moment It Actually Matters.

Royal Palm Beach's Firearm Instructor for Families Who Take Protection Personally
Suburban Protector is led by Mike Kneuer — NRA Certified Pistol Instructor, Tactical Hyve Level 1 Certified, USCCA member, Stop the Bleed instructor, and competitive USPSA shooter with 22 years of concealed carry experience. Mike did not collect a certificate at a weekend seminar and hang a shingle. He has worked through the most demanding instructor development programs available in the country, earned credentials that the vast majority of Florida firearm trainers have never pursued, and he measures every session against one standard: when this student pulls back onto Okeechobee Boulevard heading home to Royal Palm Beach, are they genuinely more capable of defending their family than they were this morning?
Suburban Protector operates as a Florida nonprofit — which means there is no sales pitch at the end of class, no upsell waiting around the corner, and no agenda beyond one thing: your actual readiness. Royal Palm Beach is a community built by working families who made a deliberate choice to put down roots on the western side of the county — away from the congestion, closer to something that feels like home. That same intentionality belongs in how you approach firearm training. Because the threats that reach quiet neighborhoods do not care how far you are from the interstate, and they do not announce themselves before they arrive.
We built this program for Royal Palm Beach residents who take their responsibility as gun owners as seriously as they take everything else they have worked to build. With more than 50 five-star Google reviews from students across Palm Beach County, Suburban Protector has become the firearm instructor that Royal Palm Beach families recommend to each other when they decide that carrying a firearm without real training is no longer a risk they are willing to accept.
We train at Palm Beach Shooting Center in Lake Worth — a professional indoor range just minutes from Royal Palm Beach — and at Smoke & Barrel Gun Club, our private 1.25-acre outdoor tactical range near Okeechobee, where we run scenario-based defensive training that no indoor facility in South Florida can come close to replicating. Whether you have never taken a formal lesson or you have been carrying for years and know your skills have not kept pace with that responsibility, every session is structured entirely around you — your firearm, your experience level, and the gaps that are worth closing before you need to find out they exist.

Firearm Training for Royal Palm Beach Families — Built Around How You Actually Live

Royal Palm Beach is the kind of community where people look out for each other. The neighborhoods off Crestwood Boulevard, the families along Royal Palm Beach Boulevard, the parents coaching youth sports on weekends and locking up the house carefully before bed — this is a community where responsibility is not a talking point, it is a way of life. When Royal Palm Beach residents train with Suburban Protector, they get instruction built around the way they actually live: the firearm on their hip, the skill level they are honest about, and the real situations most likely to unfold in the places they go every day.
Here is what we offer:
Private Firearm Lessons — $125 per session
One-on-one shooting lessons for every skill level, from first-time gun owners in Royal Palm Beach to experienced shooters who have been carrying for years and know something is off but cannot pinpoint what. Private instruction is the most direct path to real, measurable progress — because no group class was built around your grip, your flinch, or the specific habits you have been reinforcing without realizing it. We work through stance, grip, sight alignment, trigger control, accuracy fundamentals, and defensive application with live feedback after every repetition. Available at Palm Beach Shooting Center in Lake Worth, a straight shot east of Royal Palm Beach. Firearm rental available for $50.
Florida Concealed Carry Certification (CWFL) — $200–$250
Royal Palm Beach residents carry in grocery store parking lots, at gas stations on Okeechobee Boulevard, and on the roads they drive every single day. A concealed carry certification that never involved a live round is not training — it is a formality. Our Florida concealed carry class is live-fire focused and covers Florida carry laws, safe holster use, drawing from concealment, and the defensive decision-making that holds up when the situation in front of you is nothing like a classroom scenario. Mike provides the NRA-certified instructor sign-off required for your Florida CWFL application.
Protector Level 1 — Pistol Fundamentals — $150
A three-hour beginner to intermediate pistol course at our private outdoor range in Okeechobee, FL. Limited to 10 students. Built for the Royal Palm Beach gun owner who is done treating range trips as a substitute for real instruction — and ready to build a foundation that actually holds up outside the lane. Covers stance, grip, sight alignment, trigger control, live-fire accuracy drills, and multi-target engagement. If you own a firearm and have never had structured instruction, this is the course that changes what you think you know.
Protector Level 2 — Concealed Carry Concepts — $200
Advanced concealed carry training for Royal Palm Beach residents who already carry and are ready to stop pretending that a permit is the same thing as preparation. Drawing from a holster, shooting on the move, vehicle-based defense scenarios, cover and concealment, and high-stress drills with magazine changes under pressure. Western Palm Beach County is growing fast — more intersections, more people, more moments where training either shows up or it does not. This course is the difference. Includes Florida CCW instructor sign-off.
EmpowHER Women-Only Firearm Training — $100
A women-only shooting program for women in Royal Palm Beach and across Palm Beach County who want to learn firearms in an environment built entirely around them — no judgment, no intimidation, no assumption that you already know more than you do. No experience required. Firearms, eye protection, and ear protection are all provided. Groups of 4 to 8 women. Every woman in Royal Palm Beach who wants to feel capable and confident with a firearm deserves a space where that goal is taken seriously from the first minute to the last.
Group Firearm Training — from $100 per person
Custom group gun training for Royal Palm Beach families, neighborhood groups, HOA communities, church organizations, and workplaces of every kind. Indoor at Palm Beach Shooting Center or outdoor at Smoke & Barrel in Okeechobee. Every session is built around what your group actually needs — not a canned presentation dressed up with your city’s name. The people you show up with matter. The instruction they leave with should too.
Stop the Bleed Certification — $75 per person (groups of 4+)
Nationally affiliated bleeding control training available to Royal Palm Beach residents and Palm Beach County groups. Covers tourniquet application, wound packing, and direct pressure technique. No medical background required. One hour. All materials included. If you carry a firearm to protect the people around you, knowing how to stop a life-threatening bleed is not optional — it is the other half of the same commitment. This course is that half.
Royal Palm Beach Gun Owners Don't Just Show Up to the Range — They Leave Ready for Real Life.
There is a moment many Royal Palm Beach gun owners recognize. You bought your firearm because you take what happens inside your home seriously. You have put some rounds through it. You know where it is at all times. But when you are honest with yourself — stopped at the light on Okeechobee Boulevard, walking out of the Publix on Royal Palm Beach Boulevard after dark, pulling into your driveway later than you planned — the question surfaces: if something actually happened right now, would your training hold?
Not your intentions. Not your permit. Your training.
That question deserves more than a smartphone screen and a comment section. It deserves more than a Saturday morning group class where the instructor is managing nine other students and cannot tell you why your shots are pulling left. A real answer comes from instruction built around you — your firearm, your schedule, your carry habits, and the specific situations you are most likely to face in the community where you actually live.
That is exactly what Royal Palm Beach residents get when they train with Suburban Protector. Mike works with local gun owners who are ready to stop carrying quiet doubt and start carrying something they have actually built — the kind of calm, ingrained readiness that does not unravel when everything speeds up and nothing looks like it did on the range.
Royal Palm Beach is a community that has grown fast and kept its character. Families here are practical. They plan ahead. They do not wait for a problem to get serious before they take it seriously. The western corridor of Palm Beach County is expanding — more development, more traffic, more people — and the distance between owning a firearm and being prepared to use one under real pressure is not a gap that closes on its own.
Mike is one call away.
